Dear Ravenswood Family,
I hope you all had a wonderful spring break.
Our new district and school website is up. Thanks to Solomon Hill and his IT crew for getting this done. It was, and will be a huge job to keep the sites current. However, we need a customer friendly and accessible website and this suits us perfectly.
Thank you for your work and support on the ELPAC. This is California’s new annual assessment to measure English Learner progress. With you and the additional assistance from All Students Matter, we are making good progress in assessing every one of our English Learner students.
As we prepare for the CAASPP starting later this month, you’ve done most of the instructional work that will lead to your students’ academic outcomes. I know you are doing your best to prepare your students with the testing format and familiarize them with the online strategies they will need to utilize. I hope that when the scores are released later this fall there will be a significant increase in our scores. This is important since this single assessment carries a lot of weight with how schools and school districts are perceived. Thank you for your dedication and hard work.
Summer school will be starting on June 20th this year. We are funding it through Title I, Title III, the Big Lift grant, and our wonderful Ravenswood Education Foundation. If you are interested in working this summer, the positions are listed in EdJoin
. We look forward to serving 110 rising Kindergartners, 460 rising 1st –5th graders, and 180 rising 6th -8th grade students. Our rising 9th graders will be attending Sequoia’s Compass Program. The student data shows that students who participate in our summer programs do not experience the summer slide and start school in the fall ready to learn and continue their progress.
